pre start up business in development phase of producing unique textile products. Intention is to trademark each product in order to license. The company is based in UK so the likely trademarks needed will be UK and EU. The primary product will be manufactured in EU and sold in EU and UK. However the primary product also has the potential to be licensed to secondary manufacturers in UK/EU/USA/CHINA/PAKISTAN/INDIA. I want to protect the primary product so that licensing can be optimised internationally and not copied.

I need advice as to the best course of action to register the trademark given the budget is small, and can't finance the cost of going for trademarks in all potential counties initially. Is it better to register just in UK initially and then once registered go for EU or is it more cost effective to do UK and EU in one application. Then what is the advice for the right time to apply for each successive trademark for other countries without risk of leaving myself open to copy cats.

Need advice on costs to do this at stages.

I will also potentially need help to write a comprehensive, legal, watertight contract which is an agreement between my business and trademark primary product and the manufacturer of the primary product who invented and owns the patents for the technology that produces the primary product and rights to manufacturer the primary product. The manufacturer invented the technology and process to produce a product from a different raw material and they registered their own trademark for that primary product. However I came up with an idea of how to apply their technology and make a new product from an alternative raw material which has now been trialled in a pilot lab successfully. I want to brand and trademark the new product under a name that would be favourable to my business so I want to find a way commercially to encourage the manufacturer to use my brand name not to go and manufacturer the same product under another brand name for their own commercial use. If we use one brand name we can still achieve a good commercial outcome and both businesses can benefit except I own the trademark for the product. they have the exclusive rights to manufacturer and offer to their own partners. My business receives the PR from them using my brand name.

Need suggestions/advice on if and how this arrangement could be proposed in legal terms, in the contect of trademark/IP law and costs for drawing up the contract.
