Hello, I’m Muhammad Awais. I will help you stabilize your Unifi failover between Broadband and 4G/5G by thoroughly diagnosing why the link drops after about 90 seconds and reconfiguring the failover for reliable automatic switching with clear health checks and minimal downtime. I will verify the gateway’s WAN settings, confirm that link health metrics are tuned to your network, ensure DNS behavior won’t trigger unnecessary failovers, and implement monitoring so you can see when failover occurs and why. I’ll test failover under real use, make a safe rollback plan, and document every change in plain terms. What is your Unifi gateway model and firmware version? How is the failover currently configured (policy, thresholds, health checks) and what exactly fails after 90 seconds? Are there any critical services (VPN/VoIP) that must stay online during failover and do you need a seamless transition? Have DNS settings or DNS-based health checks been touched recently, and should DNS be used for health checks or not? Do you want a fixed failover order or dynamic use of both links, and how should alerts be sent when failover occurs? Best regards,

Coming from a solid background in Network Administration and Security Solution design, I bring to the table extensive experience that positions me as your best fit for this project. Beyond working with several networking equipment brands, my familiarity with Unifi routers will guarantee a smooth transition towards achieving your desired automatic failover setup and improving connectivity. Having managed network troubleshooting at both basic and advanced levels, I can assure you that the issue causing the intermittent connection on your current setup will be identified and resolved in no time. In addition to my core competencies, my Cisco CCNA & CCNP (Routing & Switching), CCNP Security courses have solidified my skills in Routing protocols Configuration (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP) and Switching (VLANs, STP, VTP). My VPNs Configuration Expertise (IPSEC/L2TP, GRE/PPTP, DMVPN, ZeroTIER etc) is also extremely useful to your needs given that 4G/5G network would be in the mix. It's been over a decade of impactful work in the sector and you can trust me to leverage all my skills over the years for a stable Unifi failover setup.

Hi there, I can resolve your Unifi failover instability immediately. Based on your description ("works for 90 seconds" + "can ping 1.1.1.1"), I am 90% sure the issue lies in the Echo Server / WAN Health Check configuration in your Unifi Controller. The Issue: By default, Unifi gateways ping a Ubiquiti server to check if the internet is "up." 4G/LTE connections often have higher latency or jitter that causes this specific ping to fail (packet loss), triggering the Gateway to mark the WAN as "Down" even though the connection is actually working. My Fix: 1. Custom Echo Server: I will reconfigure the WAN verification target to a more reliable localized DNS (like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8) that tolerates the 4G connection's behavior. 2. Timer Adjustment: If necessary, we will adjust the failure threshold so the router is less aggressive in dropping the backup connection. 3. Subnet Check: I will verify there is no IP conflict between your LTE router's LAN and your Unifi WAN IP (Double NAT issue). I have extensive experience with Unifi UDM/USG environments and can fix this via a quick remote session (TeamViewer or Site Manager invite). Best regards, Ahmad

Hi there, I just read all the requirements. However, I have carefully read your project description and submitted my bid after thorough research and preparation. This is my proposal for project: To address the issue with your Unifi gateway setup and ensure a stable failover connection, I will first troubleshoot and fix the current issue causing the connection to drop. Next, I will configure automatic failover between your primary broadband connection and 4G/5G secondary connection. Option A: I will conduct a detailed analysis of the current setup, identify the root cause of the connection drop issue, and implement the necessary configurations for seamless failover. Option B: I will reconfigure the Unifi gateway settings to establish a reliable failover connection between your broadband and 4G/5G networks, ensuring continuous internet access in case of primary connection failure. Let's discuss in detail through chat.

This depends of the router ICMP timeout for the failure detection in order to transition to the second link. If you hire me I could take a look to understand what is happenning.

Hello, I can help you troubleshoot and permanently fix the UniFi WAN failover issue you’re facing. I have hands-on experience with UniFi gateways (USG / UDM / UXG) and cellular backup links (4G/5G). From your description (connection working briefly ~90 seconds, then marked down), this is a common UniFi WAN health-check / MTU / cellular NAT issue, not a DNS problem. I can diagnose and resolve it efficiently. ✅ What I will do: Diagnose why UniFi marks WAN2 as down after ~90 seconds Correct WAN health check targets & thresholds Optimize 4G/5G router configuration (bridge / DMZ / firewall rules) Fix MTU/MSS issues common with cellular networks Ensure stable, automatic failover and recovery Verify with continuous monitoring and real failover testing ? Tools & Skills: UniFi Network Controller UniFi Gateways (WAN failover & health checks) 4G/5G backup router integration Advanced networking & troubleshooting Secure remote access via AnyDesk ⏱ Timeline: Immediate start Job typically completed within 1–2 hours Best regards, Shubham Kumar UniFi / Network Support Specialist
