Problem
In a typical city, trash is scheduled to be picked up once per week. Sometimes once per week just isn’t enough, and trash begins to collect in our kitchens, garages, and around already-full trash bins. Missing a trash day can create a headache of frustration causing trash to further pile up in our residencies. In such a situation we are confronted with a number of serious problems: not only do we have to deal with the unpleasant odor that accompanies the trash, but also the associated molds and vermin which create a potential health hazard. Further, other items may not be appropriate for the typical trash day, such as motor oil or mattresses.
Solution
BinCollector is a proposed mobile app which would allow consumers to order a trash pick-up anytime and at the their own convenience, by checking which garbage trucks are in a neighborhood and their estimated arrival times. Such a service would allow users to simply meet trash pickup at the curb. Garbage disposal services would increase their revenue by picking up ad hoc trash along their routes or in the neighborhoods they service.
