Bespoke CCTV software for wildlife watching

We are looking for a coder to help us maintain and expand bespoke CCTV viewing software.

Our company installs CCTV systems to enable people to watch birds and other wild animals at nature reserves.

We developed early versions of the software ourselves, and it has been greatly improved and had new cameras added by another developer who has recently changed careers and can no longer help us. We have very detailed instructions about the software that we can share with someone who is interested in working with us.

Our current requirement is for the software to be updated to work with 64bit Windows 10, whereas currently it is written for 32bit W10. In future we will need new cameras adding, and new UI features. We are looking for someone who can help us over a long period of time.

As this is not a very well defined job, we are asking for FreeLancers to respond not with bids, but with an expression of interest. We will share further information with those who we consider best suited to the task.

The skills requires are:

NET Framework 4.5

C#. The application components that integrate with Hikvision / Dahua / Axis IP camera SDKs are written in C#. It is recommended, therefore, that C# is used when developing the component that will integrate with new camera APIs

VB.NET. The application’s WinForms UI has been developed using VB.NET

ActiveX. The application embeds Windows Media Player and Axis Media Control, so a basic understanding of ActiveX is required

XML. Some of the application’s configuration settings are stored in XML files. Therefore, a basic knowledge of XML DOM is required

HTTP API. A basic knowledge of HTTP APIs (e.g. REST) is required for integrating with IP cameras
