Time frames after deposit refund processing

Added funds that you requested for refund may not be immediately available on your payment source right after requesting for it, or even when it is already showing as successfully refunded in your Freelancer.com account once processed. The time it takes to reach your bank account or payment source will depend on the method used for adding funds.

  • PayPal - within 24 hours
  • Credit Card 
    • Refunded deposits reflect within 5-10 business days.
    • Cancelled deposits* will not show a refund line item in your transactions, as we are simply cancelling your transaction. For most banks, the funds should be in your account within 1-5 business days.
      * A card payment is up for clearance from your bank every time you have a transaction. If you request a refund for added funds that have not cleared yet, a deposit cancellation is done. Meaning, the added funds are not yet fully complete so cancellation is made instead of a refund.
  • Paytm - within 24 hours
  • iDEAL, SOFORT, Giropay, Bancontact, Dotpay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay - usually reflects within 5 - 10 business days, but still depends on your bank’s payment processing

Should your refunded deposit not reflect after the above time frames and you have verified it with your payment source, click Contact Us and provide us your bank statement showing your transactions from the date the refund was processed to present.

You will know that a refund is complete when you see a reversal line in your Freelancer.com transaction history. 


In the image above, the refund shows it was done on May 11th. Since credit card was used on these added funds, you should expect the 50 USD to be in your bank account between the 18th and 25th. Now if you do not receive it after the 25th, you can send us your bank statement showing your transactions from May 11 to present as proof that the funds have not been returned to your bank account.
