Mobile Inquisition

Mobile Inquisition

The idea for this came from a photo that I saw a while back of a Russian tank convoy. I like to mix lo-tech with hi-tech whenever possible, so I thought it would be fun to give a medieval tone to the painting. Continuing with that line of thinking, I came up with the concept of an apocalyptic inquisition. While brainstorming the idea of an inquisition, I remembered the movie Black Death, in which an inquisition party travel around with a giant wheeled torture device. After looking at photos, I ended up choosing a breaking wheel as the torture machine of choice. If you look closely, the back of the front tank is covered in blood, but the snowstorm obscures the details.

[[login to view URL]] I'm a digital illustrator based in Ottawa Canada. My expertise is in painting cover art, t-shirt designs, or other promotional art for bands and authors. If you're interested in hiring me for commissions, this is what I can offer you: - I work quickly and efficiently. This means you get to see quick results, and I'm excited about every painting. - I can paint anything you can think of. My training is based on fundamental painting theories and techniques, meaning I can paint purely from your imagination if needed. I like to play around with all kinds of environments, angles and subject matter. In other words, if you can think of it, I can paint it. - I'm skilled in a range of digital art techniques. I can change my style from photo-realism to a more painterly approach based on your needs. I'm self-taught in both digital matte painting techniques (the strong use of photographic images), as well as a more traditional painterly approach, but I still maintain my consistent style regardless of which of these options you prefer. - I'm really knowledgeable about the genres I paint. I'm a fan and collector first and foremost. If there's an artist, style, or franchise that a client is inspired by, I'm probably familiar with it. This means that I can easily help clients develop their inspirations and ideas into full-fledged paintings. For my portfolio, and to request commissions, you can either contact me here, or check out my website at http://derekrestivo.com. If you have any questions or comments, I'm happy to hear from you! Regards, Derek
