Deployable S-Band Antenna - Simulation
Deployable S-band antenna for a Cubesat project. Here I used Solidworks for the 3D CAD and exported the hinge design to a 3D printer for the prototype. I used Microwave Studio for the EM simulation and my preferred PCB CAD is Altium. I also have experience of FEKO (highly recommend for fast starts) and HFSS for mixed technology simulations.
Über Mich
15 years experience of microelectronics design and project management. Starting with a short course on RF design at the University of Edinburgh; over the past 7 years my work has increasingly involved RF design, specialising in novel miniature and/or conformal antennas. I combine a strong academic background with practical skills and experience. I investigate recent developments and build on, or incorporate them where appropriate. I have attended European Microwave conferences and have a local archive of a large number of microwave related papers as well as access to the IEEE Xplore archive. Although you may not wish to employ me for research; I might be able to suggest a technique that can give you either a range, efficiency, or low-production cost advantage - whichever is your priority. I completed my BEng with first class honours, where I received a standing ovation for the presentation of a group project I led. RF Design is especially rewarding, and keen to advance my specialization, I completed an MSc in Microwave Engineering with merit in 2012. Although my skills cover system design, through component level design, to PCB layout and prototyping. I am only prepared to freelance where I can apply RF or antenna design skills. I am currently investigating the use of metamaterials in antenna applications.
