Kurzbeschreibung des Wettbewerbs

Cover artwork design for a modern classical/electronic/ambient music release. The musical theme explores the beauty of our polar regions and the tragedy of their degradation. The instrumentation has these two contrasting themes in mind: rich orchestra, synths and space on the beautiful glacial side, set against intimate, grainy, warmth of samples/beats/textures on the tragic-degradation side. I’d like to try and achieve similar juxtaposition with the artwork. The visual concept I have in mind is a left of center foreground depiction of 2 figures side-by-side and viewed from behind; the left slightly taller and peering up and to the left (somewhat proud) and the right looking down and slightly to the right, as if uninterested, slightly distressed or shame-full (only subtly). The left represents the older generations and the right the younger generations inheriting the former's decisions. These two figures I would like to appear somewhat abstract/vague - think scratchy stick-figures or textural silhouettes and comprised of dark/black lines, brush strokes or textures. The background i'm envisaging is akin to abstract landscape paintings comprised of mostly texture in a color pallet of faded blues, greens & rust with use of texture/transparency so the vibrancy is muted.

I love Geoffrey Johnson's way of painting the human form so would be interested in going this route for the figures depicted in this project.

Attached is a very rough example of the layout i'm seeking.

The specs i'm seeking are as follows.
The cover version should be minimum 1600x1600px JPEG and I would also like versions of the same theme in dimension I can use for social media banners etc.

Please feel free to take creative license where you feel you can add to or better the vision i've got so far. Title and artist name to follow upon winning contest.

    Thanks all for the submissions so far. I've offered some feedback directly to some so far and thought I'd share the general things i'm sharing.
    1. The figures i'm aiming for a very close to the Geoffrey Johnson example I shared in the description however should not have an clear individual features like coats or hats.     3. The artwork will be used for both the album cover and social media branding so I would love to see more entries that show examples of both the square format for the cover alone and the broader banner size also.

    2. The scene I aiming to depict in the background is an arctic scene so sticking to light blues/white would be best with only sparing use of the rust colour.
