Kurzbeschreibung des Wettbewerbs

This illustration will be silk screened onto 6.5 x 9 inch neoprene mats for board gamers. It will be a single screen, so the work must be black only on a white background.

The concept is that when your dice roll poorly, you punish or shame them to show them what they've done, by imprisoning and humiliating them in front of the other dice. Yes, this is a thing.

The dimensions of the working area are 5.5 x 8. I need someone to draw an enclosure/prison as if you were looking down on it from above. I've attached a rough sketch to give you the idea.

It's kind of a whimsical concept and gamers are a silly lot, so feel free to put visual gags to keep it interesting. I really like the dice on pikes in the front. Feel free to put any dice torture devices you may come up with in the art.

When you roll a 1, that's called a critical failure, or crit fail. This would earn you a stay in the crit fail hole. I explain this only so you know the joke, not that it's required. Although, it's kinda funny, it's still a lot of words. Just having it say "The Hole" might be best, if you choose to include it.

Gaming dice are polyhedral, so not just the standard 6 sided. I've attached a picture of a poly dice set. Feel free to include various dice styles being punished!

These will be sold by Big Viking Mats. It's not necessary, but if you get our Viking (attached) in there somewhere, that'd be nice. Again, it's not required. And not too big. Discrete, like Where's Waldo :)

Style: A high fantasy visual along the lines of World of Warcraft and D&D is preferred. The three board games here have similar visual styles that we're going for:

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/104162/descent-journeys-dark-second-edition
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/140125/fallen

The only REQUIREMENTS are:
-Designed for 5.5 x 8 inch print area
-Uses a single color vector
-Has the words "Dice Jail" somewhere. This can be on a board sign or banner on the structure, or across the top on a "scroll" that is common in fantasy art work

The rest is up to you! I feel like there's a lot of room to play with the concept. Simply drawing my sketch but better will not necessarily win, as I'm counting on someone with a better grasp of art to make it cooler/funnier. For example, the entire thing could be a pit with fortifications around it rather than a raised castle style. options options.

Also keep in mind that the print is rather small, so if the design has too much detail it will be hard to screen properly. Do your best to make quality detail without too many small lines.

We may also do this concept in other themes (space, Lovecraft, pirates, etc). If you are the winner, we may just reach back out to you for the next design.

Glen- It doesn't have to be 100% top down, but there does need to be a space to put the dice in the jail. So, top view makes the most sense to me. Plus it fits what you'd expect along side a board game. But if you've got another perspective that looks cool and makes sense, that's fine. And I may end it early if I like an illustration and there are no interested illustrators working on it. I would keep it open to see what you produce. You are clearly a talented illustrator judging by your portfolio.

Thank you!, I'm going to be sketching today and I will give this one priority, I have some experience creating top down isometric maps for games so I would like to try making something fun for your project.
I will try to deliver something within two days.

Hi, do you need it to look straight from the top like a game board?, or we can play a bit with the perspective?.
Also, do you plan to keep the contest open until the end or you intend to award it early if you fall in love with an illustration?.
