Algorithm to match buy and sell orders

Im creating a bitcoin trading exchange site. I have the user interface setup, but i need an algorithm to match the buy and sell orders.
I need a piece of code (a daemon) written in preferably php (acceptable also if python or java, specify your reason why the language you choose is better)
I want a daemon that constantly running in the background and take the following input:
[user_id] [price] [units]
and it match with the existing buy and sell order that is already in the queue.
if a buy or sell is matched, it pass the order info [user_id] [price] [units] to external program.
