Convert OMNIS df1 files to different format or make them accessible

We have six OMNIS data files (file extension "df1") between 3-6MB apiece that we need to have converted into a different database format we can query. What we need is an expert opinion on what to convert the data to (mysql?) and then an easy way to "read" the data. If would be best if you had prior experience with a similar type of project and can show us your work, etc.
