Enhancements to branding (using illustrator)

Hello,
I'm looking to make an enhancement to the previous logo project. The client doesn't love the magnet 'S' part of the logo, so adjustments are needed (only to the S). Here's my ideas for deliverables:
1. Change the S so that the thickness of the bar is the same throughout.
2. Add tiny details to the S (with no textures - maybe minor highlights)?
3. Add a couple of more details to number 2 (with no textures).
4. 3 slight color variations (using red and grey/silver - the same colors, just minor differences) using number 1.
That should be it!
