Product Category Filter for VirtueMart

I am in the process of making an online automotive parts website and that means a category structure like this

Make/model/year/engine/fuel/fuel filters/....products

Make/model/year/engine/air intakes/.....products

Make/model/year/.......ETC

as of right now Virtuemart does not have any product category filtering so i have to make all the categories like that for each car and etc...

It would be nice if all i could do was make one category for each and filter in the product edit area.

For example, for an Air intake product in the edit options for that product just select from a checkbox list or something select, acura then integra, then intakes.

OR

If there was a intake that was universal for all cars all i would have to select was intakes.

Everything else for the website i can settup and all the categories for the filters i can do, i just need the functionality of a product filter system.
