I need someone to research U.S. based credit card processing gateways (or banks) that are compatible with Ruby and provide a simple report that will allow me to make an intelligent decision as to which one to choose to use for my Ruby on Rails based web site.

In the past, I've used Bank of America because they're able to handle both the merchant account and the card processing gateway, and this avoids extra fees. I'd be curious if other banks do this as well.

I'd **recommend** providing the following in your bid proposal, but it's not required:

* Regarding the list of items I've requested below for each gateway, indicate items that you feel should be in the report that I may have missed.

* Provide a list of credit card gateways you have used in the past.

* Indicate your method for determining the "top" gateways.

Please see the **deliverables** section below for a description of the information I need in the report.

## Deliverables

1. The result of the research should be a report including information on at least the top 5 credit card gateways as well as Bank of America and Linkpoint (in case the latter are not in the top 5).

For each company in the report, the following information should be included:

1. Name of the company

2. Web site URL

3. Phone number (preferably toll free)

4. All associated fees: setup, monthly, per transaction, etc.

5. Can they store my customer's credit card credentials to allow for recurring billing, so that I don't have to store them locally? If so provide information on the API they provide for this.

6. Do they provide a Ruby API? If so, provide sample code (the company should provide this).

7. Do they provide an XML API? If so, provide a sample of the XML schema (the company should provide this).

8. What is the recommended method to interface with the gateway using the Ruby language?

9. Your subjective ranking of the company, i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.

2. All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
