We're in the process rebuilding our website and are in need of help rewriting urls.
Here's what we have that doesn't work right.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^[login to view URL]$ /clients/?page=hosting
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
#RewriteRule ^(\?page=)([A-Za-z0-9]+)$ $[login to view URL]
There are two issues involved.
1) RewriteRule ^[login to view URL]$ /clients/?page=hosting
We have several pages in search engines that need to be redirected to the current pages.
This rule works, it redirects to the correct page, but as '[login to view URL]' instead of 'clients/?page=hosting'. And then, whatever menu selection you choose it stays on the hosting page.
see the behavior: [login to view URL]
2) pretty urls
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
#RewriteRule ^(\?page=)([A-Za-z0-9]+)$ $[login to view URL]
I could never get any results from this.
We'd like to have all our url resolve to [login to view URL]
[login to view URL] works in the manner we'd like here. Look at the url's from the menu at the top left of the page. That's what we're after. The redirects work there, regardless of the menu hierarchy it always goes to root/name.html. But I could never recreate it here.
We'd like them all to resolve like the [login to view URL] rewrites.
The /clients/ directory will be moved down to the site's root on release. But if you can show us how to handle it in place now at /clients/, we should be able to change the paths upon moving.
see the behavior: [login to view URL]
Please ask questions if this isn't clear.
Thanks,
Sam
