I have a successful holiday property rental website I created myself that, as it is 10 years old, needs to be rebuilt & redesigned.
It is purely an advertising site, drawing in adverts from another website. The website has cut off their XML feed after a recent upgrade but given me permission to do a data scape once a month.
Backend scripting:
- Redesign database to 3NF/4NF
- Write cron script to scrape properties & details off partner site and populate XML file
- Write cron script to populate database with XML file
- Members adverts / PayPal Integration (most code in pace for that already)
Front end:
- New layout, colour scheme and logo.
- New internal search capabilities (partner website also has a search which will be embedded)
- Write code to layout adverts & link to correct property with affiliate code for partner website. Promote promoted adverts, etc.
Future work:
- Checking relationships with existing smaller partners.
- Adding more partners.
Site needs to be designed in PHP and well commented so I can understand the code & pick up.
This would be an ideal opportunity for a freelancer in the Birmingham or Sutton Coldfield area, I am very hands off, but would like people who are able to meet me face to face for a half day briefing to kick off the project, then get 2 updates a week. Will also consider UK based agencies only if they are willing to travel to initial briefing.
The website took me around 6 weeks to finish single-handedly, and I expect this to be a 2 month project at most.
