mobile phone barcode scanner

We are not happy with the performance of zbar and zxing. We need a solution that is less fussy, faster, and more accurate, and we need to support all the popular barcode formats, especially those used by libraries (including codabar and code_39) and UPC codes.

The project is to improve zbar (or zxing) to the point that it performs as well as the barcode scanning in Amazon Mobile (or at least Red Laser). Of course, Amazon Mobile only scans UPC codes, but we will need good performance for a a wider variety of barcodes, including codabar and code_39.

The resulting code should work well on all iOS devices (or else you should make a case why some devices won't be supported).

The deliverable is source code that we can include and ship in our iOS app, so the code must carry a license that allows for that use.
