I have done a fair amount of "substantive" editing, in which parts of a manuscript are re-arranged. While most of my work has been on doctoral dissertations, I have also worked on books. I have a good eye for flow. I am basing my bid on a 100-page manuscript, which I would read and then consider the order of chapters (about 8 hours). Placing the chapters in order in a single manuscript and creating a table of contents would take about 2 hours.
