Basic app. to enter stock level and write result to MSSQL db

The project is an app which will be used in a warehouse to count stock levels. Most important here is that these stock levels are written correctly to the database (verified). Bidders should show that they have advanced skills in SQL connectivity, which is what this app is all about. This complexity has been underestimated by previous developers. This application should have the following functionality. A user selects a given product in one of two ways: 1 - by entering the products barcode 2 - by entering the products item nr. The application should lookup the right product (SQL query will be provided) Once the user has confirmed the product, the application should check wether sales orders are in progress for this product (SQL Query will be provided) and display a warning message if that's the case. The user can then proceed; he/she enters the amount that's on stock. The app. then looks up the amount of stock that _should_ be there in the database and inserts an adjustment (new record) to add or subtract the amount of stock. --> IMPORTANT: the query to change the stock level is extensive/complicated (a SQL Profile trace and a different application to mimic the transaction is available) If the stock levels match, the user can proceed to the next item. If the stock levels don't match, the user should confirm again the stock level and the application should log the transaction. The application should have an INI file or some other place to edit the SQL logon information. Additional information: SQL compatibility: SQL 2000 and higher Environment with SQL 2005 management studio is available through Remote Desktop. SQL profile trace of a similar transaction is also available. App should be fast and run on Windows XP and upwards.
