Biological Process Engineer

Job Description Title: Process Design Engineer Reports to: Operations Manager Based at: Chapel Hill, NC Job description: The Process Design Engineer will be responsible for all technical process design proposals, plant optimization, and research and development of new process technologies. The right individual will work with product engineers and the sales managers to apply our process technologies appropriately for our customers’ needs. Key duties & responsibilities: 1. Work with sales managers to design appropriate solutions for customer needs. 2. Use state of the art process modeling software to size biological systems for proposals. 3. Assess company risk for process performance guarantees. 4. Collect and analyze plant data from existing installations. Incorporate data from existing plants into modeling systems to continually refine and calibrate internal design capabilities. 5. Oversee the development, operation and sampling of pilot plant projects. 6. Assist the commercial team by communicating directly with customers. 7. Troubleshoot and optimize existing installations. 8. Write and present technical papers at industry conferences. 9. Attend conferences to meet new customers and promote the Entex brand. 10. Provide input into product development on customer needs and issues. Position Requirements: • BS in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering or science/technical degree. MS or higher desirable. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Self‐starter, entrepreneurial, capable of independent operation. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Willingness to learn. • Ability to build strong rapport, establish trust and credibility with customers at all levels. • Extensive knowledge of biological wastewater treatment process design. • Knowledge of BioWin, GPS‐X or Aquasim modeling software highly desirable. • Some travel required.
