Description I am a delivery company looking for a program which will allow me to: 1. Add multiple delivery addresses 2. Split the deliveries by number of trucks and assign the correct number of deliveries to each truck based on time to complete not number of deliveries - i.e. 500 deliveries get split onto 14 trucks by area of the deliveries NOT random 2. System puts them into route order per truck - ie put addresses in and the system will put them in the order they are to be delivered for each truck 3. Starting address will be the same and each truck will have a finishing address 4. Using Google maps 5. Would need to show distance in time and kilometres So basically we would like the system to take all deliveries (around 500but changing) split them onto the number of trucks (around 14 but changing) the most efficiently in terms of combined travel time and give the most efficient (in time) order each truck should do the deliveries

Honestly, this project is less about programming than about knowing what algorithm to use. No matter who you pick, remember that someone might know everything there is to know about PHP, MySQL and such and have no idea how to solve your problem. The problem is an extension of the Traveling Salesman problem. Finding the actual best route takes forever. However, there are other algorithms out there which can give you very close approximations. I would use what is called an Ant Colony Approximation Algorithm to find a good solution and google maps to pull route data. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
