I am an Australian living in the Philippines with extensive CRM experience. I have also been involved with Family Trusts, Unit Trusts, etc, although I am sure I am a little out of date with the rapid developing nature of the Australian Financial Industry
I would recommend that this project be done in SuiteCRM. It is Open Source, (Free) extensible, and developer friendly to handle the customization's you need. One of the key features of a CRM is the bulk emailing, Campaign tracking, etc. These are readily available in SuiteCRM. Campaign lists can be taken from existing clients, target lists, leads, etc and multiple campaigns are supported. Emails are templated in HTML format of a professional look and PDF files can be generated and attached that are personalized.
The tracking of client portfolios would need to be done in a custom set of modules which can be developed and implemented in SuiteCRM in an upgrade safe manner. All records and activities related a Client can be seen at one place, the Client Record.
Export to Word/Excel would be complicated, we would need to discuss what data was exported and the format.
I am in GMT+8, two hours (or less) time diff, have skype available during the project and am available for start at short notice.
A Web Server would be required for hosting, I can assist with the selection and setup if required.
