Health Insurance Card Project Transaction flow Step 1 The Insured/Patient goes to any Service provider (Health center) with its Insurance Card from Any Insurance Company and asks for service (Diagnosis/Procedures) Step 2 The cashier at the Service provider office selects MENU on the POS and enters its login and password. Then the POS prompt a message asking to Insert the patient Insurance Card. While the card is inserted the patient enters its password and press OK. Then the POS verifies the insurance expiry date and shows the menu with the different services available The cashier selects the right service and press OK The POS asks to input the service Cost. The cashier enters it and press OK. The POS calculate the cost to be paid by the insured using the discount rate stored on the insurance card and show it. The insured pays the amount and the cashier give him the Ticket printed by the POS Step 3 The POS send the transaction details to the backend system over a GPRS connection. Information transmitted are : the insured card number, the type of service, the cost of service before the reduction, the health center ID (service provider), the cashier ID, Date and Time, Transaction ID. System parts description The Insurance Card The Insurance Card is delivered by insurances companies register on the backend system. Each insurance company has a specific code which is encode on their insured insurance card. The smart card also contain the insured details: First name, Last name, Date of birth, Personal Code, Insurance police number, Discount rate, Card number, Insurance expiry date. The POS Terminal Each service provider is equipped with a POS. The POS is configured with the following information: the different services available, Insurance companies logo for ticket printing, Health center name (Service provider Name). Insurance Companies Each insurance company will have an account on the backend system. They will register their insured on their account, update their service/procedures/diagnosis list and prices, and get any report on their insured transactions. Card printing and encoding A centralized card production system will be in our office for card printing and encoding. Our card printing software will connect to the database and get the insured information for the card printing and encoding. The Backend System The backend system is the core of this project. It will be used to : Create Insurance companies accounts, Register insured, do reports, update service provider POS terminals, Manage a central database. The ticket The ticket is print by the POS terminal with: the insurance company logo, the health center name, Date and Time, Transaction ID, Insured details (Name, date of birth…), Insurance details (discount rate, police number, subscriber name), The service cost, The cost paid after discount.
