Looking for a developer (preferably delphi) to construct a point-click interface for interactive form develpment that will be integrated into an existing product. The existing product has a MySQL backend with ~56 tables and 800 fields. Ease of use is paramount, as users are NOT technical, yet need the ability to create/modify forms that will be populated with data from an already constructed MYsql database (version 4.1.x). Incorporating existing look/feel is encouraged, but not necessary. Appropriate Delphi component sets can be provided.
What we have is a medical management database (56 tables, 800 fields) and what we need is a way for a user to generate a form for printing. For instance, they want to design a letter that will be sent to the patient, the attorney, and the physical therapist, that will need to be populated with the patient name, address, etc. from the database. They need to be able to place these fields on the form, add whatever static text, including a logo (which sits in the database) and have the sql statement generated for them. Similar to crystal reports, but I'm hoping for something a bit more user-friendly. My thought is to display the available fields in an expandable tree view for them to choose what fields are available on the left hand pane (interface is very outlook-like), with text controls on the toolbar.
