Book Proofreading and Editing

Hi I will be honest and say that for the money you are offering, the quality of work you are likely to get will not be good - A qualified editor/proofreader works at a rate of 2,000 words an hour as an industry standard - you you are looking at 44 hours work for your project. I don't believe you will get quality and 'professional' work for your budget but I am getting fed up with so called proofreaders ripping people off by doing a good job for the first few pages and them skimming text as you won't discover the true quality of the work until later an long after you have released the money. It would be unprofessional of me to suggest who to avoid - but I am not bidding for the project as I couldn't come down to the rate you are offering as a maximum.. When you have had the work done, if you would like to let me know if it is okay, I'd gladly spend 15 minutes looking over the text to see how many errors there are and if there are many - then my advice is not to pay for the work as editing and proofreading prior to publication should be totally error free. I don't charge for doing that, I'm just trying to keep standards up and to protect new Freelancers. So you know why I won't be bidding - my rate would be $440.00 but then I allow myself time to do a complete job and won't sacrifice my 5* by doing a substandard work - for me it isn't just about the money, it's about pride and ethics too.
