I have plenty of experience working on Machine Learning problems in Python. I have used Scikit-learn and Pylearn2 for classification problems. I have done classification in databases with more than 10 million registers. What I would is first get some basic statistics for the data to see what kind of classifier could be applied. I would check if the data itself gives nice features. If not, I would create better features from the data using unsupervised learning. I would use grid search to find the best parameters.
