Reverse DNS tool
The Reverse DNS tool is a desktop application that works on Windows 7 and that allows the user to perform a reverse DNS check on a large list of domain names, ip addresses or server host names to find all the domain names that are on the same server as the domains checked.
The software has a build in proxy rotator through which it can perform the reverse DNS checks so it does not get banned or blocked because of too many automated queries to a server.
The software should be able to handle very large source lists (as in at least a hundred thousand source domains a time). The Reverse DNS Tool writes all data directly to a CSV file so saving while data is being gathered is not necessary.
A project file can be made so a project can be interrupted, saved and closed, opened and continued on some other date. Options for a project can be set before the software starts.
Gathering data can be started, paused or stopped using play, pause and stop buttons.
The software gives feedback while it is working. It does not show the actual list of results as it grows but shows a counter of new results added, elapsed time from the moment it started. It notifies the user if it cannot continue and if too many domain names in a row time out.
During a pause or a stop of the project the user can inspect the list of results to see if all goes well.
The software can export the results to a CSV file when done, showing the columns domain name, ipadress, server hostname for each entry. There is a checkbox option to add the original source list to the exported list or not.
The software interface is devided by four tabs. Project window 1 in which initial project settings can be set. Project window 2 where more specific project settings can be set. Third tab has the Action window where the project can be started, stopped or paused. And the status and the number of added results can be read. Tab four is the Results window where the user can scroll through the domains found, corresponding ipadresses and server hostnames, and where the user can export the results to a CSV file, naming it and plcing it somewhere on his harddrive.
