The Analog Devices ADAU1977 codec and Raspberry Pi I2C drivers are included in the main Linux tree. For this project I need a guide to build the kernel and/or Device Tree files to support the audio chip in ALSA. This specific chip is used for it's four input channels and there is no output connected.
I'm not completely unaware of kernel workings but I have never modified/created platform specific board files and nor proficient enough with Device Tree to do this my self. The solution should educate me in doing another project with kernel drivers for the Raspberry Pi and Device Tree configurations.
Analog Devices has extensive documentation on Linux integration on its wiki
([login to view URL]).
With the project start I will provide:
- Complete hardware specs and schematics how we connected the ADAU1977 to the Raspberry Pi using our custom developed PCB.
- Information on the EVAL-ADAU1977Z kit, the reference implementation evaluation kit from Analog Devices.
- Remote SSH access to a Raspberry Pi with the audio chip connected for testing with basic audio input signals to validate the working of the setup.
Deliverables you will provide at the end of the project are:
- A guide to build the kernel with updated board files
- A guide to configure the drivers using Device Tree
- A working device driver setup on our hardware or the Analog Devices reference implementation (remotely configured)
