We're building a software to detect the mortality in a sperm through the microscope. This software is mostly motion analysis. Hi, I am an electronics engineer currently studying masters in Bioelectroics. I have 5+ yeas experience in image processing. In this project the objective is to detect the movement and calculate the relative area of movement over time. probably the area will decrease over time. From this area vs time we can calculate the mortality rate. For detection of movement I will use Opencv with Python (also to read video from camera (or video file) ) I can deliver this system within 7-10 days. Please discuss details in chat. Thank you.

At HARVARD-MIT research lab I worked on both human and mouse sperm cells to detect the VELOCITY PROFILE and detect the viability percentage. This was an automated program app that was developed as a part of point-of-care research work. I have been looking to find a reason to develop such application software for desktop devices. I understand the cells biology and the importance of information on WHO (World Health Organisation) manual for sample preparation protocols including the latest fifth edition. I also have first hand knowledge of the actual protocol that is being used at Massachusetts General Hospital, as I had worked there, the best (rated number 1) hospital in USA (2012). I also understand the imaging requirements that is needed to process the videos. I believe we can process and show results of the sample in under a minute after the video was shot.

I'm interested in this. I would have to look at the images first to see the best possibile image detection path. We can use cell detection models, and retrain the final layers to recognize sperm. From there, I would add the opencv object tracker. I think the rate of motility can be detected from there and classification could be made with a threshold on whether the sperm is to be considered motile or not. Do you have a specification on the frames per second, resolution, ...etc. Let me know if you're interested, and if you have a video sample, I can try some ideas before the bid period ends.
