Hello! I am an American freelancer who has lived in the UK for nearly fourteen years. I am well versed in UK and US English, and I have worked on projects that involved "translating" UK English to US English and vice versa. The majority of my work involves editing and proofreading fiction and non-fiction books. I have worked with one YA author for nearly two years. She published her first book on Amazon and it received some negative reviews due to spelling errors, typos, and other distracting errors. She hired me to find those errors and correct them. She was pleased with my work and I have gone on to edit the remaining three books in her vampire/witch series, plus a novella and the first two books of her new werewolf series. I also have worked with another author from Mauritius, editing her sci-fi duology. I have also edited several sci-fi short fiction pieces and numerous non-fiction eBooks. I have a meticulous eye for detail. I will check your manuscript for any spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors. I think it would also be interesting to combine US and UK English into your story. You could, for example, use UK spellings, but when it comes to referring to certain items you could use their US names. How you wish to approach this can be discussed later. Hello, I understand that you need a fantasy book proofread and edited. I was actually proofreading a journal article last week that will be published next month in Sleep Medicine Reviews, a nationally-recognized journal for current sleep research. I do this type of work frequently for PhD and MD level members of my research lab, as I tend to be more finicky than most about spelling and grammar. I've already taken a look at your website and the story sounds really cool!! I will be honest, I don't know about blending for UK and US (I'm a US native), but your project sounds interesting and I love reading fantasy books so I thought I'd give this project a bid! I take grammar and spelling very seriously, and am always willing to proofread or edit any material needed. I work quickly, and try to have most projects finished within the first 24-48 hours. If, for any reason, it will take longer than planned to complete a project, I communicate immediately with a new timeline, and with the reason for the change. I am a big fan of fantasy novels and would very much enjoy proofreading your work. I am especially a fan of characters and their development over time, so if this is going to be an ongoing series I would love to be involved.
