Right, here we go, so to explain this as clearly as possible. I work in a company that uses excel sheets that I have coded to simply reference other sheets and documents to produce certain calculations etc. Where we are attempting to move to is a google sheet which has its problems. This is because excel uses reference codes for certain results, and google uses other references obviously from a copyright point of view.
What I am looking for is to see if a google document can read an excel via a code which in turn communicates between both programs when you import it to a google doc.
I am not sure if this can be done and also the level of complexity may be far and beyond what is currently available out there in the market, purely from a google and Microsoft issue to allow the programs to do this.
Firstly I want to establish communication of how and if this can be done, then potentially after I have been satisfied with the response, move forward with an action plan if is can be done. I have sheets that I uploaded that I want to merge through to a google sheet, as you will see, if drops the references, I will also have to share you into my document that sits live in google drive. I have passwords locked on my excel that I can provide, yet as we all know it is easy enough to crack them.
Hi there, I am going to have to move my google drive files to another location due to it being in my corporate section where I cannot share it out to anyone. So I will change the setting and attempt to delete the current files and upload new ones tonight.
Heath, essentially the process of the excel into a google sheet doesn't change really. If you grab one of these excel sheets and convert it, it will show you the issue which happens of formulas and reference cells dropping out.
