This is a very small utility install app. It basically has to do 2 things. 1. register an exe file using -regsvr (i already have the .exe built, its a plugin that adds an additional right-click menu option to the windows32 context menu. 2. After the .exe is registered the install app will have to edit 2 different registry key values. ----------------------------------------------------- If you are wondering what i am talkinga bout, here are the details of what i want. I have an exe file that, when installed, adds a right-click menu option to the windows context menu for only files. Now here is the probelm: To install this exe, it has to be install from the command prompt ("Strat Menu"--> "Run") with the path to the exe like: c:\path\[login to view URL] -RegServer and to uninstall: c:\path\[login to view URL] -UnregServer after it is registered on the users system, u will have to edit 2 registry values in the registry. Heres the thing, for each user the registry values will be different, one of the value will be the users "username" which means the install prog that u will be writing will have to prompt the user to enter their username, upon accepting the username, u will have to edit the registry values. ------------------------------------------------ Currently, when a user wants to register my special .exe, the user has to do all the above manually. and since most users are novices, they wont all understand. That's why i need a simple install app that will automate the process so that all the user does is run a simple setup file which will do both things as follows(summary): 1. Register the pre-built .exe using -regsvr 2. As soon as the .exe is registered, prompt the user for their username which will be one of the values needed to edit the registry values. I already know exactly what values those are in the registry, the path will be: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Persits Software\XUpload\Shell Extension\Server","[login to view URL]" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Persits Software\\XUpload\\Shell Extension\\Script","/xuploadSamples/[login to view URL]" + usern as u can see, in the first registry key ("Server") i have a static value of "[login to view URL]". that will never change and will be the same for all users. the second reg key is "Script" which will be dynamic their username appended like a http url with a queryString folowwing the "?username="+ blah blah.
