Our startup requires a GWT RPC generator for the Apache Etch RPC library.
It's pretty standard. Use Etch's IDL language to generate our GWT RPC service interfaces, with the server side are embedded in a Jetty container.
This involves writing Apache Velocity templates to generate the appropriate GWT RPC code.
There is an existing C# [prototype][1] that the programmer can base their work off of.
There is the potential for future interesting projects and opportunities for the successful bidder who does a great job with this project.
## Deliverables
Mathias Herberts ([login to view URL]) has done this with Apache Thrift and published it under and open source license. He did this for the client side component. So that is possible reference source for GWTisms.
To answer a few questions:
You should target Apache Etch v1.1, I would like a build target to generate both a sourcedir and a jar.
For GWT you should target GWT2.0 (SVN trunk)
The chat example in the etch distribution is probably a good sample IDL, but it should obviously work for all IDLs. If you are really interested in the project, please be sure to send your msn/skype/irc/gtalk contact details to me.
## Platform
