We can assemble the prototype and a demonstration of the circuit will be given. further more if you pay the shipment cost we will deliver the whole project at youir door step. we will use Ultrasonic modules, HC-sr04 with Arduino nano. The range of obstacle will be shown on 16x2 LCD. A beep or tone will be initiated when the distance will be less than a meter or any prfered limit. Hi! I just did the same project using HCSR-04 Ultrasonic sensor. LV-MaxSonar-EZ1 is same like HCSR-04 Code for HCR also works on LV.. I would like to do some changes in circuit. Instead of using WiFi why not serial communication? If you use Wifi you have to use 2 wifi modules one for sending data and one for receiving data. And you would also need two different power sources to power up the sending and receiving module. In serial communication their is a wired connection which looks bad. But in your case its good to have a wired serial communication. You can install the system in two ways. 1 Install the sensor on wall and when ever the car comes it will calculate distance between upcoming car and sends it to display unit. 2 Install it in you car (It will be best) On front the sensor and display module in the car. It will work every where. Where ever you want to park your car. For display i will use 16x2 lcd.... My details I am a professional PCB and Circuit Designer. I designed many circuits and their PCB's. I also do programming of microcontrollers and their interfacing with different electronics components. I have experience in Pic,8051, Arduino, AVR, Atmel etc. I am Running a Website Under the name www . microcontroller-project . com You can see my work on it. Garage Bumper :) i cant figure why the sensor would go on the garage door? However what I would recommend based off of your description is an Arduino with the range sensor and an LCD screen for output. This could hang on the wall in front of the car so to show the drive the distance to the wall. An Rpi is an overkill unless you want decision making abilities.

we can buy one serial LCD and connect it to Arduino , you dont need rpi . the only thing is wiring sensor from front into the car

I have used ultrasonic range finders before and simple numerical output devices with ease. One or two 7 segment displays should be able to display the distance nicely. The rest of it depends on where the display should be placed, whether it should be near the sensor on a wall, on the garage door, or in the vehicle.
