The proposed of this project is aimed at the development of solution for drilling aerospace structures. In common manufacturing process, the drilling is typically performed manually. Such an intensive process is time consuming and subject to several failure liabilities. The increasing demand of modern aircraft production strengthen the incentive to automate the process. This project is aimed at meeting the minimum requirements in aeronautics drilling, with special focus on quality of the holes and emphasis on perpendicular deviation.
Gather information and research
• conceptualize and design a drilling end effector interfaced with the KUKA robot.
• The end effector has integrated 3 modules, i.e. drill head, vision system and laser range finders.
