I require a suite of uniquely designed children’s furniture made entirely from either white or natural cardboard, that is capable of being delivered in a flat pack, where part of the adventure is creating the furniture with your child. The furniture design aesthetic will be cleverly creative, such that while appealing to kids in the 5 – 11 year age bracket, it will be stylish from the parent’s perspective.
The furniture will be made from extremely strong honeycomb cardboard (see [login to view URL]) or Corcel coreboard (see [login to view URL]) and/or with regular corrugated cardboard. These materials are used to manufacture export pallets that can withstand weights of two tonnes or more. There are options for varying widths of board, white or regular cardboard finishes and such like.
The product suite will include:
1. Single bed
2. Chest of drawers designed in a modular fashion such that a few core shapes they can be added to and arranged in any number of possible configurations – like oversized Lego. Drawers can be omitted to form cavities for shelves. These could be used to create bedside units, through to large drawer/shelving installations – designed by the child and parents (but with instructions and pictures for a few finished ideas).
3. Low activity table and chairs. Potentially these could be formed from layering flat coreboard with slightly different profiles on top of each other to form an unusual but sturdy shape – but we are open to all suggestions
4. Toybox, with sliding lid, which could double as a small two seater couch.
It is critical that the entire product is cardboard (so it can be recycled), and can be flat packed. There must be no plastic in any part or packaging. Assembly will be required and is part of the adventure – but should not be overly onerous. Preferably no gluing as part of the assembly.
Also, preferably no gluing in the production process. The board will be CNC laser cut to shape from whole boards. Ideally, there will be no human gluing or involvement in the production stages, other than collating the components and wrapping them with instructions into a flatpack.
It is possible that the bed base could be made from export pallets linked together somehow – one upside down on the bottom, the other right way up on the top, forming cavities which could accommodate drawers.

Price will be determined I guess by quantity of cardboard included and the brand positioning in the market.
Initial thoughts are that the price should be equivalent to traditional furniture once delivered.
