I need a demo for a script to check an uploaded pdf file for the number of pages in the pdf file. I have found a few demos that do not seem to work ([login to view URL]), but might point you in the right direction. I believe this is possible using [login to view URL], but I need a streamlined version that only returns the page count of the pdf file. I need it packaged as a demo so I could upload it to a directory and it would function. Does not need to look fancy, just needs to work in the major browsers (ie, firefox, chrome, safari) Cannot be in PHP, but needs to be HTML and JavaScript/JQuery. Would be great to see a file upload and then a simple alert or console write that says the number of pages in the uploaded pdf file. It should work with a linked pdf file that is on the same server. It would be nice to be able to send the url of the pdf to a function and have it return the page count. This is a rush project, but should not be too complicated to complete.

I can do this job, but i think, it's impossible to read a pdf stored in server with only javascript/jQuery, it must be in local (user computer) it's mandatory tu use php to read the file and send it to js or whatever, please tell me more details
