Hello I can fix the SSL issue. Do you want the whole store to be https or just the checkout process? For the shopping cart, I understand that you want the items put in the cart to stay in the cart if you visit the site at a later time? For the image size issue, I'd need to see the site to get a better idea of why the images are not properly showing in the correct sizes.
