Write some Software

Using a video feed from a digital camera fitted with a fisheye lens looking skyward such that it can see a 360x170 degree view of the sky predict the cloud shading and unshading of the sun. The software will need to be aware of the normal track of the sun so it knows its position even on very cloudy days and possibly calibrate the camera orientation or raise alarm should there be a significant discrepancy between predicted and actual position. To assist with the solar tracking the software can be setup with the GPS co-ordinates of the camera and use the computers real time clock/calendar and the camera may be rotated to a set position, it would be the responsibility of the user to set the time and location correctly, and its suggested that the system understands the set timezone and uses GMT time for calculations in order to eliminate any confusion with local and daylight savings The system should be able to predict within a 15-30 minutes the next shading/unshading event and assign a prediction of how long that event will last, being able to predict multiple shading unshading events would be a bonus. It would be anticipated that the further a cloud edge is from the sun and the closer the sun is to the horizon then the more inaccurate the prediction, this is acceptable providing the prediction increases with accuracy the closer the cloud front approaches the sun and is accurate within 2 seconds within the last 10 seconds A value that predicts the intensity of the sun would also be a benefit, ranging from 100% (unobscured) to 0% fully obscured The software will need to operate on a windows 10 PC and output a live stream of data in a format that can easily be communicated to a PLC/SCADA system eg via Modbus TCP/IP, RS232, or maybe via an ActiveX component operating within the SCADA system, or even have the entire package function as an ActiveX component within the SCADA system
