Job Description:
I am going through a divorce and working with a mediator. My husband is a funeral director and we have lived at a mortuary free of charge for the past 9 years. He will continue to live there. Rent and all utilities are completely included. His hourly pay is only $21 as a result, so he brings in ~$36k/yr.
We have 2 kids. They will be with me most of the time, so we need to figure out child support. My income is $90k/yr, but I am going to have a huge cost of living increase. The mediator suggested I find the average rent/utilities for the apartment size in the zip code. My issue is that my husband could choose not to agree to use the average costs to calculate child support. Using his low income would seriously impact how much his children would be getting each month.
