Some sort of tagging system will be need for the resouces. Resource types are .ppt .xls or .xlsx .doc or .docx Currently Domain name [login to view URL] and sever space has being purchased. Content management sytem has been installed (Drupal). The deal candidate should have good knowledge of Drupal and using PHP in drupal. Thank you for reading F Glynn ## Deliverables Features ============ New users can create accounts 1) they enter an email address as a user name 2) they specify a password 3) They specify their school name, country 4) They see a message: "You should receive an email with your account details" 5) They get an email with a link to the login page and a welcome message There are three types of people that will use this system: "Administrator (me!)", "Antonio" the power-user, and "Micheal" the casual-user. Administrator can create, delete users. Antonio is a teacher who is comfortable with computers. He creates an account, and will upload and try out resources. Micheal is a teacher who is not a computer expert. He knows how to browse around the web, and use a resource, but he might not know how to create a resource. Micheal might not even have an account on the system. The process for allowing these people collaberate is as follows: 1) Antonio registers with the system 2) Antonio logs in 3) Antonio uploads a new resource, eg: "PieChart [login to view URL]" 4) Antonio will specify the "key stage", the "course", and at least one "category" labels (more on this below) 5) This will automatically create a new forum post, which Antonio will author -) The forum is only visible to logged-in users 6) Other logged-in users in the system will view and comment on the resource in the forum 7) Eventually, the Administrator may decide to 'accept' the resource, and enter it into the 'public resource list'. The administrator will be able to change the key stage, course and categories if he wishes. 8) This public resource list is visible to anyone who visits the website- they don't need to have an account. This public list is what you get when you click on the links along the top of the website: "Maths English Science ICT MFL Geography...". They will then see the list of courses in that subject, categorised by keystage. If he clicks on a course, then he see the list of categories in that subject. If he clicks on a category, then he sees the list of resources that match that key stage, course and category. Key Stages, Courses, Categories ================================ Every resource in the system is in a specific key stage, course and has a list of 1 or more categories. Possible key stages: key stage 3, key stage 4, key stage 5. The list of key stages does not change. Each key stage covers a range of ages (eg: key stage 5 is approximately 15yrs-18yrs). The course is the topic they are studying. It is probably a 6months to 1 year long topic, eg: "Statistics", "Core Maths". Each course is in a specific key stage. We might have two courses with the same name being in different key stages, eg "Key Stage 3/Maths", "Key Stage 4/Maths". Finally, we have a list of categories in each course. This probably refers to a chapter in the course. Eg: "Differentiation by parts", "Sequences and series". So, when Antonio uploads a new resource, he would: 1) specify the key stage (3 - 5) 2) specify the course (we only list courses in the key stage he selected) 3) specify the categrories appropriate for the resource (we would only display the categories that are inthe specific keystage/course he selected) As you can see, the key stage/course/categories are central to how the system works. We would need it to be possible for the administrator to create new courses and categories (as mentioned earlier, the keystages are fixed). Create a new subject ==================== 1) Specify the Name (it must be a unique subject name) These are the links accross the top of the website. Create a new course ==================== 1) Specify key stage (3-5) 2) Specify the subject (eg: "Maths", "English", "Geography"...) 2) Specify course name (must be unique *for that key stage*, they can have the same course name used in different key stages) Create a category ==================== 1) Specify the keystage (3-5) 2) Specify the course 3) Specify the category name (must be unique *for that key stage/course*, the same category name can be used in different key stages/courses) Example 1 ========== So, an example. Antonio uploads a new resource, "[login to view URL]". He clicks on "Key Stage 3". The system lists all the key stage 3 courses: Maths English Geograpy ... He clicks on "Maths". Next he sees the list of Key Stage 3/Maths categories: Statistics Calculas Graphs ... He selects Statistics and Graphs. Now, he writes a Title and Description for the forum post, which automatically contains a link to the resource. Eg: "Draws different pie charts". Later, Antonio can edit the post to include links to newer versions of the resource (in response to comments). If the Administrator likes the resource, he can include it in the public repository, which will mean that even a non-logged in user like "Micheal" can see it. Which brings us to example 2... Example 2 ========== Micheal visits staffrooms.com. He is teaching Statistics/PieCharts to a Key Stage 3/Maths class. He wants some resources for that class, so he clicks on the 'Maths' subject along the top of the page. This displays the list of key stages, and the courses in each: Key Stage 3 Maths Key Stage 4 Maths Key Stage 5 Core Maths Statistics Calculas ... He clicks on the 'Maths' link under Key Stage 3, and he sees a list of categories: Statistics Numbers Algebra ... He clicks on Statistics, and he sees the list of resources that are in Key Stage 3/Maths/Statistics: File Description [login to view URL] draws example pie charts [login to view URL] estimates the mean from group data ...
