We are currently working to setup a F5 load balancer to load balance two web servers. I apologize, but this is my first time working with the F5 systems and having some problems get the configure to work correctly. I have included information below on what I have got completed and the details of the setup below:
hardware/software
Version 4.2 of the f5 software
2u 700mhz 512mb f5 device with 2 nic cards
F5 current setup
interface one
IP: [login to view URL]
Netmask: [login to view URL]
Broadcast: [login to view URL]
interface two
IP: [login to view URL]
Netmask: [login to view URL]
Broadcast: [login to view URL]
I have two servers that I am trying to test my setup with. They have the following configuration
Server 1
Windows 2000 server
IP 1: [login to view URL]
Subnet 1: [login to view URL]
Gateway 1: [login to view URL]
IP 2: [login to view URL]
Subnet 2: [login to view URL]
Server 2
IP 1: [login to view URL]
Subnet 1: [login to view URL]
Gateway 1: [login to view URL]
IP 2: [login to view URL]
Subnet 2: [login to view URL]
I can currently access the F5 web interface at [[login to view URL]][1]
The software is not licensed at this time.
I am trying to test a simple round robin load balancing setup between the two web servers. The will be balancing asp and asp.net applications and will require persistent connections
Problem
After reading the documentation that is provide from f5 I believe that I have the base configure working correctly, but when I go to the "Pools" tab in the web interface I get the following error "Error 124 -- Load balancing is not available." This is the first problem that I am trying to correct. I looked high and low, but was not able to find a list of error codes and how to correct them.
I am looking for some direction on how to enable load balancing to start with. After I get that problem corrected I can start working on setting up the pools and nodes.
