Determine if given string is available on loaded keyboard layout

I need to find out if a given string (*1) is available on the currently loaded keyboard. If it is, I need to get the Virtual Key Code ("VK") and the shift state (as boolean). I will only accept bids with samples. Your function will need to be written in VB6 or should be ported to VB6.
