PDF creation in Unicode with font sub-setting

Need: To create a PDF that can contain any Unicode character in any language that is sub-setted to reduce the file size. The user enters characters in the text box, presses submit, and the PDF is generated and stored on the server. (Using LAMP). Currently, we are using the FPDF/UFPDF PHP libraries to generate PDF which creates files of 22meg, as U/FPDF does not support font sub-setting. Solution: We are open to any viable solutions to this problem. We prefer an automated process. Possibilities: *Custom PHP code for UFPDF that does font sub-setting *Commercial server application in PHP *Commercial server application in [login to view URL] **In this case, we would have to interface with our current PHP app *Desktop application that takes PDF without any embedding and embeds the sub-setted fonts. We can also handle VECTOR EPS files. I repeat VECTOR EPS files! This may be another solution path. In your response, please propose a solution and indicate your experience with font/graphic problems of this sort. This is complicated problem and not just simple PHP script or a matter of using LPDF. ## Deliverables Deliverables: The application must behave as this: • User enters data into a text box on shared hosting using LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySql, PHP) o Data can be in any language • System generates and emails PDF with embedded, sub-setted fonts The deliverables will consist of: • Any and all php files • The name and version of any commercial application • Installation instructions • A working prototype installed on a shared hosting website using LAMP 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Platform: Front end website: LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySql, PHP) Other software and applications as needed to do PDF sub-setting.
