A url is entered into the browser address field followed by 'enter' Stuff happens to convert that into an http request (processer, ram, nic) Stuff happens to route the request to the listening server (dns lookup, caches, routing, message passing) Stuff happens at the listening server (preprocessing, cookie check, http response) Stuff happens to return the response to browser Webpage appears in browser. I can tell part of the story but not the whole story; and not in sufficient detail for my liking. I would like to have one or more chats/voiceconvo with one or more individuals who can really give a detailed play-by-play, blow-by-blow of the entire round trip; from request to response. $50/hr. Couple hours needed at most. You will need to know about the OSI reference model; packet switching; TCP/IP; routing tables; BGP; ram, computer instructions; etc.
