Legacy database e.g. FoxPro, DB2 etc. and whether a driver is available to connect to the same. 2. Number of tables/views to be pulled into the staging area. 3. I have 20 years of experience with relational and SQL databases. 15 of those years have been with Microsoft SQL Server. At a major US healthcare insurance provider, I architected a relational data warehouse system using source adapter views, and used TSQL stored procedures to enact the periodic staging and loading of data from those source systems, so I’m familiar with the approach you describe. I tend to follow data warehouse approaches and practices as proposed by Ralph Kimball. I was unsure how exactly to size the project for your request. One piece of information that would help would be to know how many source system tables needed to be mapped, and whether there were any known issues in the source data that needed to be accounted for in the translation of the data. I sized it as if there would be 20 source to target mappings, assuming the mappings were of moderate complexity such as some source tables missing fields defined in the target staging data. Complex transformations such as parsing and splitting data from a single source field to multiple target fields and/or tables can make things a little more involved.
