Summary: We will direct you toward a list of approx 14,940 U.S.-based music artists (bands and solo performers). We need you to return to us an excel spreadsheet with all of those artists listed and then specific contact and song information for each one. You will be paid based on the number of artists you are able to deliver quality data for. An example of the data format is attached. Process: Start by going to reverbnation.com. On the left side, select "browse" and then "charts." Now select "pop" from the genres. Next click "national" and select "change location" to choose "United States." This will produce a long list of artists with 598 pages total. First collect the band names and location (city and state) from this list. Now click on the artist's reverbnation profile, and in the lower right side you will see a "links" box. Click on "myspace." Record the artist's myspace page URL and then their top song, based on # of plays. An example is here: [login to view URL] When you click this page, you see a music player that lists several songs. The songs with the biggest number of plays is "Amazing" even though other songs are listed above it. We would want the song "Amazing" in the song column for our spreadsheet. If the artist does not have a myspace page or if (very rare) the myspace page does not have a song player, record the top song listed on their reverbnation profile. You should be able to complete these steps for all the artists on the list. We will pay 1 cent for every artist you complete this much information for. Now use the following suggestions to collect the contact email address for the band (for each qualified email address we receive, we will pay you an additional 4 cents per artist). Please note that an email address that is connected to a management company or label will not count. We will check to ensure the addresses you send are valid and specific to the artist. You may already see the address on the myspace page you are visiting for song title. If not, try the links on the reverbnation profile, beginning with "artist website" and then "facebook." Under "artist website," this will typically be on the "contact" page. Under "facebook" (you will have to log in to see this data), this will typically be on the "info" page. Another idea would be to go to [login to view URL] and enter the artist website. Sometimes the artist's email address is on the ownership info for the domain. Another suggestion would be to google the artist and see if you can find the email on any of the resulting pages. Do not contact artists via their reverbnation page, in an attempt to obtain email addresses or other information. This method is strictly prohibited. We have placed sample artists throughout the reverbnation site to ensure this does not happen, and if we find a provider has contacted them through this means, we will award ZERO payment for all of their work done. If you find a second email, please record this too. If you are able to find contact names along with the email address, please include that as well. If you feel a comment is necessary, please write. Any additional touches like this will make you more likely to be chosen for our next project, of which we have many. Please return spreadsheets to me in sets of 500 artists, as you collect them. You can keep a master document with all the artists together, but we would like to see the data as you collect it. Thanks!
