95966 Elgg Templates

We are launching a commercial social network using the code of the Elgg education/social script as the backend (project at [login to view URL] , functioning demo at [login to view URL] ) and we need someone to design more user templates for the Elgg blog system. Elgg blog templates are constructed in a similar fashion to WordPress or BlogHoster templates. Each template is made up of a CSS file, an HTML shell including the required variables, and any associated graphics the designer wants to use put in a common bin. These template sets are then either included in a folder in the server build by the webmaster, or can be installed directly by users via cut-and-paste into a form off their profile. Although the formatting is similar to WordPress templates in concept, the variables used, and the number or them, are completely different. That said, it would be quite easy for someone who knew what they were doing to "convert" a WordPress template to an Elgg template. (Please note that we are not advocating *exactly* copying any copyrighted WordPress templates. But the systems are different enough so that once a WordPress template was "converted" to Elgg, it would probably look thematically similar, but not identical, to its WordPress version.) Elgg currently comes with about a dozen templates pre-installed. We would like to offer more templates to our users. The pay for this project is *per template*: we will pay the chosen designer(s) $10 per template, for up to 40 templates. As I said, for someone who knows these systems intimately, creating these templates by using current WordPress templates as a starting point should not be too difficult. (You could even use the current account templates at [login to view URL] as a starting point - we would even pay for different color-sets of these.) For your bid, please indicate how many templates you think you could generate in a week's time, at $10/temnplate. In short, we are looking for a variety of bright, modern blog designs. Please show us, based on your experience, why you should contribute to this project. Those invited must send us one completed functional template *NOT based on a current Elgg template* to start. If we decide to go forward with you we will pay you for that template with the others you contribute, and if we decide to pass, you will not be paid, but we promise we will not use your test template in our project. We might choose more than one designer for this project and split the work among them. We also reserve the right to choose no bidders.
