We have 10 Photoshop designs to be integrated into the customer facing portion of our e-commerce platform.
We only wish to maintain one source version for each of our customer content pages. Accordingly we will need the web page layouts integrated in such a way that our universal (customer) header, navigation, footer, and body content pages will be the same for the various layouts, but will be rendered differently. Additionally, we wish to maintain flexibility regarding migration to a pure XML XSLT web tier. This migration would be most easily accomplished if the customer content is as plain as possible, and all significant manipulation is done via CSS even to the exclusion of using tables for positioning.
We believe that this will be possible by making abundant use of CSS for styling and positioning and possibly also image placement.
The integration of these new Photoshop templates will necessitate the implementation of some presently not existing features. The most glaring of these is a ' featured products' feature. We will need this functionality developed; someone, will implement this feature on the back end, and then you will have an API (better yet, a pre-populated action form) for conveying the featured product information.
Since we cannot easily place requirements on customers' browsers, we would like to avoid using client technologies on the customer facing side, including JavaScript, Java applets, flash and so on. Ideally then, the only requirement for customers is a relatively reasonable browser, and hopefully a 1024x768 screen resolution.
The web development on the customer side thus includes the following item:
-- Integration of Photoshop templates in the manner described above. For each template, this will require the development of a layout page, and a CSS style sheet. To start with, we would like to integrate ten (10) Photoshop designs. The current body content should be able to be styled according to the developed style sheet. Minor changes here and there may be necessary, but these changes should not affect the rendering by other layout/style sheet combinations.
